So, what is a 'Muffin? A RagaMuffin is a big, friendly, fluffy, loving companion! Many say they have a puppy-like disposition, and can be trained to do tricks. They are very intelligent and love to supervise whatever their people are doing, following them around the house to "help". These impressive cats are never aloof--they always want to be with their people and love to greet visitors, too.

Because of this extremely trusting nature, RagaMuffins are strictly indoor pets. They get along happily with other pets and children, and are quite adaptable to different types of households. They love to play and remain playful through their lives.

No matter the color or pattern of coat you choose, it is plush, soft, and low-maintenance, as it resists matting. Just a little brushing once or twice a week will keep it looking nice. You will want to touch these cats! They are truly luscious to feel and cuddle.

We hope you will enjoy learning why the RagaMuffins are such a wonderful breed of cat. The RagaMuffin is a unique cat possessing qualities found no where else in the feline world. The RagaMuffin is a cat we selectively breed to produce a kitten with the loving and docile disposition that some say is the "Teddy Bear" of the cat world. Cat Fancy Magazine describes them as the "Gentle Giants." The sweet, childlike temperament of these wonderful felines make them an ideal companion and cherished friend.

Regardless of the gender, color, size or look of the cat, we selectively breed our RagaMuffins for the perfect disposition.  While shopping for a RagaMuffin please keep in mind that they are RagaMuffins first and foremost because of their disposition. Although the majority are blue-eyed color points, a RagaMuffin can be solid, tabby or tortie with green, gold or copper eyes. After the wonderful disposition, important characteristics are large size, stocky build, broad head and mat resistant fur.

Long time Breeders and Fanciers of the RagaMuffin believe that it is the finest pet available, and anyone who is looking for a BIG CUDDLY TEDDY BEAR will fall in love with one. They tend to bond with their owners. Unlike many breeds, the RagaMuffin will crave attention from all their family members. Usually they will be big lap sitters or want to be right beside you as soon as you sit down anywhere. They will beg for attention until you give in and pick them up for a hug and a chin rub. They like children, dogs, and other cats. They get along with birds and other critters, too, because they are really not hunters. As kittens they are weaned and ready for a home between 12-16 weeks. Most of them will develop traits usually associated with puppies, such as: following their family around the house, learning to fetch, helping you comb your hair in the morning, waiting for you to come home at the door. Also they can be trained to walk on a leash and sit up on their hind legs.  These RagaMuffin cats weigh from 8-20 pounds. The females weighing between 8-12 pounds, and the males between 15-20 pounds. They are have extraordinarily sweet personalities and can be taught to do tricks.

We selectively breed our RagaMuffins for the perfect disposition. In the ACFA standard, disposition counts for thirty out of one hundred points. They should go limp when you pick them up which makes them easy to handle.
